Birdos Skis are hand-built in a small workshop in the heart of the Swiss Alps. All our skis are made with top quality materials and excellent workmanship.

In the press our skis are allowed to fully cure (temper) before we remove them after 5+ hours. This greatly increases the strength of the ski and nearly eliminates the tendency for the skis to twist or de-camber out of the press (a common problem in mass produced skis spending 20 minutes in the press).

While laminating the skis, we pay special attention to the glue added to ensure the lightest and strongest possible laminate.

When the skis are in the press, we adjust the press temperature according to the type of laminate to ensure the correct final camber.

In the workshop we are focused on fine craftsmanship with the highest quality materials, taking the extra time along the way to ensure top quality overall.

All our skis carry a 1 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Features:

  • Handmade sandwich construction - highest quality, superb durability.
  • Uni-directional fibers placed on 3 axes allows optimal fiber angles for torsion and flex.
  • European Beech and Poplar core, vertically laminated medium weight, excellent strength and feel.
  • Thick 10 mm thick ABS sidewalls - better edge support.
  • 2.1 mm edges better resistance to edge pull out.
  • Rubber strips in laminate improves edge bonding, adds damping.
  • Rubber tip and tail durable for hits, provides energy absorption, and adds dampening.
  • ABS/TPU topsheet - high durability, high abrasion resistance.

TAIL PROFILE

Full Twin Tip - for jibbing, your true, full height twin to float the tails riding switch in pow.

Half Twin Tip - the all rounder, gets you through the billy goat entrances, un-tangled from the trees, and allows for the occasional jibbing.

Flat Tail - low profile tail for the classic feel.

Swallow Tail - retro powder design, decreasing the surface area in the tail of the ski allowing the tails to sink in the snow. Gives the ski a "surfy" feeling in the powder, however can be difficult in crusty / punchy snow conditions.

FLEX PATTERN

Our Standard Flex pattern is a round flex, pressed in any stiffness to suit your desire.

We can also press skis stiff under foot with softer tip and tails, soft tips only, etc...

Generally the softer constructions are better for softer snow, and more maneuverable and easy to ski at lower speeds. The stiffer constructions are more stable at higher speeds, better on harder snow, but a bit harder to turn. A Medium to Medium / Stiff ski is often the best choice for all around riding.

LAMINATE

All Mountian - Fiberglass standard weight ski, excellent energy absorption. Ideal ski for lift served skiing, touring the back side of the area, all around riding and jibbing.

Race - Titanal and Fiberglass, damp ride, excellent torsional rigidity, race-type construction adapted to freeride skis. This is the ski for high speeds, big lines, variable snow conditions.

XTRA Light - Carbon and Fiberglass, lighter weight, the ski for touring the back country, a light-weight ski to cruise the powder.

CAMBER

snow

Standard Camber Diagram

Standard Camber: 6 - 10 mm camber per ski, ideal for mixed conditions, provides maximum edge hold. Good for both on and off piste, corn snow, all mountian riding. Recommended for Ghetto Chicken and Early Bird.

Flat Camber Diagram

Flat Camber: 0 - 2 mm camber per ski, ideal for softer and mixed snow conditions, a bit more flotation while still maintaining full length edge contact on hard snow. A good compromise for hard snow stability and soft snow flotation. Recommended for Early Bird, Ghetto Chicken, and Puder Luder.

Rocker Tip Camber Diagram

Rocker Tip: Flat camber under foot, with the first 1/3 of the ski gently inverse. Gives the tip excellent flotation, even with a stiff flex pattern. Excellent performance in all kinds of soft snow, easy riding surf feel on a traditionally shaped ski. Enough edge contact to still be dependable on harder snow. Recommended for Early Bird and Puder Luder

Floater Inverse Camber Diagram

Floater Inverse: Flat camber under foot, inverse tip and tail. For 95 % powder, excellent flotation, stability, and maneuverability. Flat section under foot provides edge contact, and gives the ski a "traditional" feel and stability on harder snow when needed. Recommended for the Floater, and possible on the Puder Luder.

Eleven Inverse Camber Diagram

Eleven Inverse: A smooth inverse camber, for 100 % powder riding. Recommended for the Eleven only.
